Welcome Back

2023-24 academic year is here!

Welcome back to the new school year. We are excited to be back and have emailed to all parents a detailed newsletter with key information for the new term. A copy of this newsletter can be found in the 'newsletter' section of this website. Welcome Back Newsletter

We are very excited for the coming year. The children continue to enjoy our engaging curriculum which we enhance with experiences carefully planned to deepen the children's interest and understanding in the topics being taught. Many of these experiences are planned and enjoyed alongside our federation partner school, Ferryhill Station Primary. Our teachers pool their expertise and ideas to plan the curriculum and linked experiences. Currently, we are enjoying benefiting from our partnership with Locomotion Museum, where children are invited to take part in a wide range of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematical) activities while our teachers benefit from professional development in this area. Children are encouraged to develop engineering habits of mind.

We also work to ensure that children benefit from a range of cultural experiences. For example, this year, instead of the usual pantomime visit, we will enjoy Nativity the Musical at Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Our children will benefit from increased engagement with Durham Music Service this year. Every class will have music lessons from a professional musician in the summer term. Class 4 will begin to learn the Ukulele, Class 3 will learn the recorder, Class 2 will work with percussion instruments while class 1 will explore rhythm.

Our Limestone Leopards project is also underway and we will continue to plan Leopards activities across the year. This is our after school club strategy which aims to encourage children's engagement in a range of activities and while doing so, earn their 'spots'.

We look forward to many more rich curricula and extra curricula experiences over the coming year.
