About Us

Please note hard copies of all downloadable documents can be requested from the school office free of charge.

Ludworth Primary School is situated in a rural part of County Durham.  The school not only serves the village of Ludworth but also attracts families from the surrounding villages of Thornley, Haswell, Haswell Plough and Shadforth.

We are very proud of our school and try to operate as a family where each and every child is of high importance, in an environment where they feel safe, secure and cared for.  The school building was built in the 1920’s and has recently had a major revamp to some external areas and all of the learning environments.

We do all we can to work in partnership with families and parents are actively encouraged to come into school as helpers, attend concerts and assemblies, attend family learning activities and to play a key part the educational development of their child.  The support of parents is key to our continued success, we offer an open door policy and parents are free to contact the head teacher as and when it is deemed necessary.

Our most recent OFSTED Inspection in May 2018 recognised that:

'The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. Leaders have created a happy school where pupils are nurtured and encouraged to achieve well. Pupils are supported to develop very positive attitudes to learning. By the time they reach key stage 2, pupils work very hard in lessons, respond quickly to advice from adults and are keen to succeed. Parents, pupils and staff share the view that pupils are well looked after and are safe in school.'
