About Us

Please note hard copies of all downloadable documents can be requested from the school office free of charge.

Ludworth Primary School is situated in a rural part of County Durham.  The school not only serves the village of Ludworth but also attracts families from the surrounding villages of Thornley, Haswell, Haswell Plough and Shadforth.

We are very proud of our school and try to operate as a family where each and every child is of high importance, in an environment where they feel safe, secure and cared for.  The school building was built in the 1920’s and has recently had a major revamp to some external areas and all of the learning environments.

We do all we can to work in partnership with families and parents are actively encouraged to come into school as helpers, attend concerts and assemblies, attend family learning activities and to play a key part the educational development of their child.  The support of parents is key to our continued success, we offer an open door policy and parents are free to contact the head teacher as and when it is deemed necessary.

Our academic standards are high.  Our OFSTED inspection in July 2014 recognised the high standards of the school and that children make good progress here.  We continue to work tirelessly to improve the learning environments and provision for our all of our children, the curriculum for the whole school and integrate ICT into daily teaching and learning and promote community cohesion locally, nationally and internationally.
