Peterlee Partnership Festival

Our children joined over 400 others at Thornley Primary to take part in our Festival of Colour. Across the Partnership, other schools were doing the same.

There are over 30 schools in the partnership and all of them learn the same dance and the same song. Ideas are taken from all schools and a song is written using these ideas. This year, the song was called 'Umbala', which is zulu for colour. All schools attending festivals throughout the area sing and dance at the same time.

Our children thoroughly enjoyed the festival. They took part in events such as:

  • Multiskills
  • Arts and crafts
  • Fairground rides
  • A magician
  • Sideshows

and much more!

At the end of the festival, balloons were released. Each child had written a message and tied it onto the balloons. The messages explored the children's skills and what colour they bring to the world.
