World Book Day

Children in school have had a fabulous day developing their reading in fun ways. Each class chose a book or author to focus on and completed very different activities linked to their stories. In Class 1 they looked at traditional stories, focusing on 'The Three Little Pigs. Children made story hats to help them retell the story and had a fun afternoon completing different activities with the parents. The gingerbread men were a real success! Class 2 became witches and wizards for the day after looking at the Harry Potter stories. They made Philosopher's Stones, wands and had an explosive afternoon creating polyjuice potions with the parents. In Class 3 the children looked at the story 'Rumble in the Jungle' which taught them about kidness. From this they produced some amazing props and settings to retell the story. They shared this with the parents on the afternoon. Class 4 chose to look at an author, rather than one book. As many of the children have read his books they decide to look at stories by David Walliams and produced sock puppets linked to his lastest novel 'The Fing'.

During a whole school assembly we presented one child from each class with a book voucher to celebrate their excellent work during the day. It was a really hard decision as all the children worked so hard but each class could only have one winner.

Class 1 - Sienna

Class 2 - Sophiamay

Class 3 - Carys

Class 4 - Bobby
